How a tree works: Other benefits

Trees do more than provide wood and paper.

They are home to millions of plants and animals.

Some of our most rarest species – such as those pictured below - can be found in our forests, so we need to be careful about which trees we cut down and which we keep.

And it’s not just the trees that are important – so are the spaces between them.

That’s where you can walk, cycle, run, have a picnic, experience life in the tree tops at Go Ape, take a holiday, go on events, attend a forest gig or just sit, breathe in fresh air and watch the world go by.

Name one other place where you can do all that.
