How a tree works: A living, breathing tree

“The planting of a tree, especially one of the long-living hardwood trees, is a gift which you can make to posterity at almost no cost and with almost no trouble, and if the tree takes root it will far outlive the visible effect of any of your other actions, good or evil.”

From “A good word for the Vicar of Bray” by George Orwell

The tree you plant today could be there for you, your children and your grandchildren to see.

And as long as it lives and breathes, a tree will be a vital part of everyone’s life. It will take carbon dioxide from the air, provide oxygen for us to breathe, be somewhere to rest or play, provide shelter from the elements and create a home to wildlife.

From its humble beginning as a seed, it will grow and change until it reaches maturity. And you can watch it live and grow as you do.
